** Black Velvet GOOSEBERRY is a small , productive  shrub  that bears heavy crops  of sweet dark  red/ purple ( not really black) berries. Skin of this Gooseberry  is a bit velvety but  the taste is like  most other gooseberries....sweet with a slight tartness and very fruity flavour. Great fresh or processed into jams, etc.
Gooseberries are robust and hardy plants  that can be grown in a wide range of locations. They cope in moist, well-drained ground. They can lso be plabted in large containers. They crop best and produce sweeter fruits  in a sunny position, but wil tolerate some shade.
